Mac Miller, an artist notorious for choosing to go the indie route, through Rostrum Records, finally went major as he signed to Warner Bros.
Despite its indie status, Mac’s first album, Blue Slide Park scored a No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, selling 144,000 copies. Under the deal, worth around $10 million, Miller will be able to sign and develop new artists through REMember/Warner Bros.
It will be interesting to see how other indie artists view this deal and whether the shift may go back to the majors. In honor of his new deal, enjoy Mac’s new track ‘Just Some Raps’.
