As expected, Kanye West received the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award Sunday night at the VMAs to a roaring crowd and none other than Taylor Swift presenting the award. In Kanye’s legendary acceptance speech, he talked about being high, standing up for artistry, and also announced his intentions to run for presidency in the year 2020.
No, we’re not making that up. Watch Kanye’s full speech below.
The Weeknd’s new studio album, Beauty Behind the Madness, releases in just a few days (Aug. 28), and despite the LP leaking a week early, Abel is keeping the momentum going with the release of a new music video, for the album’s third and Kanye West-produced track, titled ‘Tell Your Friends’. Like the videos before (‘Can’t Feel My Face’, ‘The Hills’) the ‘Tell Your Friends’ video is another masterpiece and definitely will get you hyped for the new album.

Drake and Meek Mill may soon be old news for rap beef as Vic Mensa just took serious shots at G.O.O.D. Music‘s Travis Scott with his new ‘Heir To The Throne’ freestyle. Rapping over Biggie’s classic ‘Who Shot Ya?’ record, Mensa raps, “couple rap n*ggas you done thought that we was crew, real life n*ggas was corny, what can I do? Rich boy rappers get the notion that they tough, you a Cheddar Bob you better shooting yourself.” While mimicking Travis Scott’s “straight up” adlib between bars, Mensa is clearly talking about Scott, who (like Vic) is very close with Kanye West and producer Mike Dean.
While we aren’t certain where, how, or why this beef started, members of the KanyeToThe forum traced the beef back to last month, from one of Mensa’s tweets. In the tweet, Mensa is noticeably annoyed by a HNHH article that describes Vic’s unreleased track, ‘3 AM’, as sounding similar to a “Travis Scott song without the autotune.” Vic soon replied asking that they not mention him with “funny style n*ggas.”
It’s possible that something behind the scenes explains Mensa’s disliking of Scott, and there were rumors that a fight between Scott’s team and Vic’s SAVEMONEY crew broke out months ago, but for now it may just be the case that Mensa isn’t a fan of La Flame. Or perhaps the two are competing for studio time with Kanye and Mike Dean? Either way, this doesn’t seem like a necessary beef, and the unnecessary shots are overshadowing the dope bars Vic laid down in the new freestyle. Both Mensa and Scott will be in Chicago this weekend, as Travis is performing at Lollapalooza and Vic is performing a hometown show for an unofficial Lollapalooza Afterparty, so perhaps the two will cross paths…
Listen to Mensa’s shots towards Travis Scott at the 1:40 mark below.
For being dubbed American’s assh*le by half the country, Kanye West is truly an inspiring and open minded person. Today, E! has shareduplifting details about the first time Mr. West met Caitlyn Jenner, which will air on Sunday’s premiere episode of “I Am Cait”. “I think this is one of the strongest things that have happened in our existence as human beings, that are so controlled by perception,” Kanye told Cait during their first meeting. “You couldn’t have been up against more,” Kanye added. Well that ignorant guy from your high school that doesn’t think Caitlyn Jenner is a hero may not be accepting, but Kanye West sure is.
Don’t miss this moment on the premiere of I Am Cait, this Sunday on E!.
Kickstarter has inspired a lot of strange ideas, but this one might be both the coolest and the strangest. “The Brohaus Art Collective” has launched a Kickstarter campaign to try to deliver their Kanye West lifesized body pillow (you read that correctly) to the man himself. The pillow stands at Kanye-height and is designed with a photo of Kanye. For a pledge of $200 or more, supporters in the Bay Area can spend a night with the original body pillow and for a pledge of $1,500 or more you can get a replica Kanye body pillow for your very own.
“We. Love. Kanye… more than life itself. So we made a pillow in his likeness, to lose ourselves in Yeezy’s fluffy embrace day and night. We want to actually hand-deliver the pillow to Kanye himself, but for reasons outside our control, we don’t have his address. With your help, we’re hoping to get enough attention to deliver it to him personally and send our backers updates along the way.”
Support the Kickstarter campaign here and check out photos of the pillow below.
Chance The Rapper is thanking Yeezus today, as last night Kanye West, who Chance publicly been a huge fan of ever since his come up, gave a big shout-out to Chance during his performance at Ottawa’s Bluesfest. Although to two have been hanging out a good amount lately (Chance even brought out Kanye and Vic Mensa for one of his Open Mike events), this is the first time Kanye publicly gave a shout-out to the young Chicago rapper. In an Instagram video from Bob Zegler, a member of Chance’s team, Chance is ecstatic in his priceless reaction to Ye’s kind words, calling Chance one of “the most talented young new artists.” “Let’s go! That’s all I needed!”, you can hear Chance saying from the soundboard, as he realizes the Kanye-stimulus-package is incoming.
English singer/songwriter got on the good side of a whole lot of Kanye West fans this past weekend as she made it her mission to bring justice to all the Kanye West hate at Glastonbury. Before Kanye West’s epic festival performance, and despite a highly publicized petition asking that Kanye be removed from the line-up, Lily Allen traveled around the festival and then stole and burned any anti-Kanye propaganda that crossed her path.
Sharing the images on her Instagram, the Sheezus singer wrote “The flag said FUCK OFF KANYE, so I burned it till it said just KANYE . Don’t go for dinner at someone’s house and tell them their food sucks.” We can’t argue with that logic!
This new track from French Montana bangs and it is definitely not short in terms of its star power. With Kanye West (and The Mekanics) handling the trap production, and Rick Ross and Lil Wayne contributing to French’s track as well, ‘Lose It’ a can’t miss record. The marquee alone is reason enough to check this one out.
Less than a week ago G.O.O.D. Music‘s Big Sean released his powerful video for his Dark Sky Paradise record ‘One Man Can Change The World’. Today we have another new video, this time for the LP’s other Kanye West collaboration, ‘All Your Fault’. The Mark Mayer direction and the dark visuals goes well with the track, so definitely don’t sleep on this one!

The man that brought polos and backpacks to rap, who made shutter shades huge (before college kids killed their appeal), who reminded Sway “It ain’t Ralph tho”, Kanye West himself, has been named GQ’s Most Stylish Man Alive. Minutes ago, Kanye’s wife Kim Kardashian-West shared the cover for GQ’s “The Most Stylish Men Alive” issue, with Kanye front and center. A man who has been on a non-stop campaign to spread his fashion influence on the world for the past few years and whose shoes re-list on eBay for thousands, was likely an easy choice for GQ. This accolade comes just months after Time named Kanye their “100 Most Influential People” list.
